September 5, 2010I decided to chill this weekend and took my usual pastime of lazing around rather seriously.
My lats were already aching since Friday after PT and one hour of tennis with sx yesterday left me with an achey right arm and wrist, but I’m surprised we didn’t suck too badly after the long hiatus. There were even some moments of brilliance and maybe two shots where my double backhand didn’t disappoint. Now that I consider a great success. Great to see my arms are so much stronger now — I can stand at the baseline and hit all the way across.
Today I ditched both PT and yoga because I suddenly had a crazy urge to head all the way down to Macritchie for a run. It’s so darned far away that it took me the entire afternoon, both bus journeys were twice the actual on-trail time. But it was nice and not so hot under the shady canopy of the trail leading up to the HSBC treetop walk. Went in at 2.45pm and emerged an hour later. Running on trail is not easy and I think I only covered a miserable 5km. And by evening I could feel my calves starting to hurt.
Ended the day with a nice chat with Dorothea over fruity Starbucks drinks. She’s being a total taitai now before baby David is born. She is due this month but she still looks so tiny!

August 29, 2010I had a pretty awesome day, which really started last evening with Topo and Fur.
For some reason the three of us ended up at TCC after dinner poring over the latest issue of Her World like teenagers let loose after final exams. This was interspersed with random gossip about people on Facebook ie everyone.
This afternoon we met for brunch at Food for Thought. More eating, although the conversation topics were less frivolous.
After that we took the bus back to the east and rented bikes for a leisurely two hour jaunt. Fur has an elephantine memory and reminded us that the last time we all went cycling was in January 2008, to which topo and I were incredulous that so much time had elapsed.
By the time I got home it was 4.30 and I had to get ready to meet Shree. We’d arranged to go to Nelson’s birthday party together. I was glad we had the time on the bus to catch up with each other.
His dinner was great. I was already buzzed from such a successful day so I was in really high spirits. I probably had one drink too many and I know some people thought I was getting a bit out of control so I’m sorry if I was a bit out of character. But i had a wonderful time, and I hope Nellie will enjoy all the gifts we picked out for him.
