I miss singing the real stuff. The sacred stuff that talks of gods and the heavens and the angels and of all higher beings and all things exalted. I miss hearing pure vowels and the echo of gloria and spiritus in hallowed halls with pipe organs.
I have this sudden urge to sing certain movements of Handel’s Hallelujah chorus and some parts of Faure’s Requiem out loud.

Tonight we went out shopping at 11 pm and were amazed to learn that shops in the Dongdaemun area in Seoul shut at 4.30am. It literally is a city that never sleeps. I last visited years ago for a short holiday and I only have fragments of memories of the places and people I saw. This time I’m not sure what to make of it. We’ve rarely seen anything in the past few days leading up to the concert and the few glimpses we had were through the windows of the chartered bus. I only have nary a few days to try and discover the soul of Asia. I’ll say this though, the weather is chilly and bleary and the girls, like in any fashionable city, walk around dressed like it’s 20 degrees warmer. I just feel like a fat and short dumpling.
I guess I have to say something about the main reason we’re here. The concert last night was over much faster than I would have liked. I guess this usually happens with many things one spends an extended period of time and effort preparing for. I think given the circumstances, we lived up to most expectations and didn’t do too shabbily. I’ve said before I enjoy the glory but this time I also enjoyed the company and the bonds that have quickly developed within the group. Then the question almost immediately turns to whether I’m staying on. I don’t know. I guess I am?
Right now I’m just dreading the mountain of work waiting for me when I return to the office next week, I see new deadlines and appointments and events just unravelling. What with being sick just before leaving sing sing, I’m hoping I can get back to the gym and put in some effort on the treadmill… I wasn’t sure if I did the right thing but now I’m glad I signed up for sundown, even if it’s just the short version. It’s good to have some sort of goal to work towards.

I’m so tired, woke up today feeling like I’ve been run over by a train. These long practices plus other household chores leave me with no time to rest on weekends. Plus i’ve got such a busy week at work, I actually have to do some work today.
The only that would cheer me up is if my new bag from Francesco Biasia arrived pronto. I want it to be delivered now now now.
