Australian novelist Peter Carey has been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize for the third time.  Some time ago I picked up one of his earlier works, Theft,and have been slowly ploughing through it in between my weekly staples (The New Yorker and The Economist).

I must say it is quite a funny book, exploring the world of art, or rather, fraud in art. The characters are wild and he brings them to life with such colour, they are anything but sanitized. Interesting too because I don’t think I’ve ever read a story that was set primarily in Australia.
